Studio updates & milestones.

A running journal of what we are shipping, learning and shipping next — from app releases to R&D breakthroughs and community programmes.

Timeline

What we have been building.

Highlights from the last twelve months — selected by the team for the impact they had on our users and partners.

2026 — Q2

Multi-track Offline Audio Editor reaches 1.0

After eighteen months of iteration we shipped the first stable release of our offline multitrack audio editor, with a fully procedural mix-bus, native AUv3 plug-in support and an end-to-end encrypted local project vault.

2026 — Q1

Sheffield Tech-Park residency extended

We renewed our residency at the Sheffield Technology Park and welcomed two senior engineers to the studio — one focused on programmatic graphics and one on privacy research. Our office footprint now hosts a dedicated hardware QA lab.

2025 — Q4

Programme: "Calm by default"

Internal initiative to remove every unnecessary notification, modal and tracker from our existing apps. Over the quarter we cut average session interruptions by 62% and received a 4.8★ average across our App Store portfolio.

2025 — Q3

Generative motion system released as open spec

Our internal motion-system specification — covering easing curves, spring physics and accessibility-aware duration budgets — was published under a permissive licence so other indie studios can build on it.

2025 — Q2

App portfolio expanded to seven titles

We added two new applications to the App Store: the Personal Goal Decomposer (productivity) and the Jewellery & Heirloom Inventory (collections). Both followed our strict local-first privacy baseline and reached top-100 in their categories within eight weeks.

2025 — Q1

Compliance review: GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, PIPL

An independent third-party privacy review was completed across our entire product line. The full report is available to partners on request and our privacy policy has been updated to reflect the regional regulations applicable in the EU, UK, California, Mainland China and the United States.

2024 — Q4

Studio formed at Sheffield Technology Park

dlwenyuan.com formally established its independent studio at the Sheffield Technology Park, United Kingdom. From a founding team of three engineers and a designer, the studio set out to build minimalist, privacy-respecting applications for users worldwide.

Coming next

What is on the workbench.

A glimpse at the systems we are prototyping right now — subject to the usual discipline of waiting until something is worth shipping.

Generative music toolkit

An offline companion app that procedurally composes ambient soundscapes from environmental cues captured on-device. Designed to help users relax, focus or sleep without ever uploading audio.

Houseplant care vault

A privacy-first plant care tracker with offline species recognition powered by an on-device ML model. Records watering cycles, light conditions and growth notes — entirely local.

Open motion spec v2

The next iteration of our motion design system, adding spatial-aware easing curves and developer-friendly code-generation tools. Targeted for public release later in the year.
